So you’ve seen all the cool pics and videos of my family traveling around the world, and living life to the MAX, and you want to do something similar.
Well, rather than be vague about what it takes, we’re usually very transparent on how we got to where we are now, and the steps you’ll need to take to live this type of lifestyle.
But somehow, you still think it’s all a scam, a hoax, or just some trick to get your money, right?
If you want to become a freedom-preneur, it IS possible!
But only if you work for it…
I’m not just pulling your leg or selling a dream when I say that you too can become a freedom-preneur. But as the heading above says, the only way to make your dreams of living the “laptop lifestyle”, and enjoying perpetual travel (if you want) come true, is going to require some work.
As much as I love seeing people have fun at the beach, and posting cool pics on instagram and snapchat, most of us don’t start off this way… myself included. It takes a certain amount of focus, determination, and creativity to leave your old work-life behind to build a career as a digital marketer.
But once you make the transition, it can be one of the most rewarding experiences ever… If you look at the business advice market today, there seems to be a massive amount of mis-information that’s readily available to all who seek. Sure, you can find some golden nuggets of info here, and hidden gems of advice there, but for the most part, there’s an insane amount of people being mis-educated online.
The old-school traditional advice that gets thrown around may be relevant for some brick and mortar style ventures, but not the online space. First, lets deal with the myth that business is “hard”, and you’ll fail within the first year. Of course there are going to be certain challenges in anything your pursue, especially in a professional or entrepreneurial space. And yes, you might fail… but the reality is there’s also a good chance that you’ll succeed as well.
Online businesses, like physical businesses, pop-up everyday, but the big difference besides how their launched and managed, is the fact that it’s much easier to start online vs a physical location. And it’s not like everyone legally registers their sales funnel or ecom store with the government or Better Business Bureau, so saying most people fail in the first 365 days could be grossly inaccurate.
Something else that needs to be taken into account is what parameters determine a person’s SUCCESS or failure? What may be a WIN for you, may be a complete disaster to the next person. It’s all about perception, but when it all boils down, becoming a freedom-preneur is extremely possibly… if you work for it.
So even if you see a lot of the so called experts living it up, you have to remember two things.
- There’s more to being a marketer than travel and vlogging.
2. It’s easy to fake your lifestyle online.
So be careful who you follow and take advice from, and remember…
It’s not all fun and games (yet)…
Digital marketing is a learnable skill that can be mastered through multiple ways.
The first way to get acquainted with what it takes to succeed is through books on the subject of business, entrepreneurship, and of course online marketing. If you’re not patient enough to comb through a book, or just prefer video, courses are the next best thing. The only problem with that is the sheer number of training available.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s great to have options, and compared to college or trade school, they can be dramatically cheaper in price.
But the biggest issue, besides going broke buying every shiny new course you find, is learning who to trust, and which person’s info is relevant and actually works. Because more often than not, you’re going to run into people selling quick tactics and techniques that only work for a brief period of time.
And to be totally honest, they may not even work at all. The key here is to learn and acquire knowledge from a reputable source, then take action on what you’ve learned. Once you’ve gained a bit of experience, the next step would be to join a coaching program.
This way you can get some hands-on assistance, and have someone who’s already successful hold your hand until you get on your feet.
Although it may be a challenge to get up to speed in the beginning, if you stay focused on the end goal, pretty soon you’ll be waking up to the sweet sound of paypal alerts on your smartphone.
But there’s one thing you’ve got to do before you’re able to collect one single dollar online, or in person…
Get comfortable with taking risks.
It’s a widely known idea that when it comes to running your own business, there’s a certain amount of risk involved.
However, when you think about it, in any activity you choose to do, you’re eventually going to have to take risks in order to progress. No matter what it is… sports, video games, cooking, dating, and yes… internet marketing, involves doing something that could cause some sort of loss.
Whether i t’s a loss of time, money, or resources, as long as your risks don’t outweigh the potential rewards, everything should be OK.
The truth is, you’ll never be able to 100% eliminate risk, but knowing how to make better decisions can definitely help speed up your progress. Just imagine if Bill Gates would have never dropped out of college to start Microsoft. The world would probably look completely different from what it does now, seeing as the PC and it’s widely known operating system “Windows”, has helped make computers more accessible, easier to use, and a much more versatile tool that has changed the world forever.
What if Steve Jobs hadn’t done the same?
We probably wouldn’t have these amazing iPhones & Apple computers we can’t seem to live without.. And if Mark Zuckerberg hadn’t followed suit, Facebook would never be born and grown into a multi-hundred BILLION dollar company, that has again, altered the human experience in ways we may not understand for years to come.
Come to think of it, millions of small businesses and marketers alike may not have the opportunity to make money, and compete with large corporations through their advertising platform. Besides having to find another way to promote our businesses, we could have been forced to deal with the digital trainwreck, formerly known MySpace. Lol.
Now I’ve got to clarify something… I’m in no way encouraging you to dropout of college, high-school, or any institute of higher learning at all! In fact you should finish getting your formal education if you’re already doing so, but only if it makes perfect logical and financial sense for you and your family.
Some would argue that going to college these days, and going into immense student loan debt is a much bigger risk than starting an online business, and to that I’d have to agree.
But again, if it makes sense for you to go to college or at least finish it, then by all means do so. The purpose of this post is to not only show you that it’s possible to become a freedom-preneur or digital nomad, but to explain some of the principles that will help you get where you want to be. My husband Brian and I are living proof that what we’re doing is attainable, and our peer group is further evidence of this fact.
Marketing online is not just the future anymore, it’s the NOW, and if you want to have a shot at securing even a little bit of financial stability in the next few years, it’s extremely important that you look into at least creating a second income source for yourself using an app like clickfunnels, or at least setting up a payment gateway to receive payments for some sort of side hustle.
All things being said, this lifestyle is possible, the money is more than possible, and if you want to live in a world without borders and boundaries, the time to become a freedom-preneur is NOW!
