Do you find yourself constantly setting goals but never being able to achieve them, no matter how hard you try, or how bad you want to make it happen?
To be honest, there’s probably a thousand reasons why things aren’t working out for you, but the most common issue isn’t that you aren’t capable of reaching and EXCEEDING your goals.
The problem is most likely the way you try to set them in the first place.
If you’re fed up with falling short every time you try to launch your product or build a solid personal brand, try making your plan in reverse!
Why? Because once you know exactly where you want to go, it’s much easier to get there…
Want to find the buried treasure? You’re going to need a map.
Back in the day, before apple & google maps, and waze, to get where you want to go you’d need an actual… well, map.
Besides charting a course for the final destination on paper VS your smartphone, the biggest difference between maps now, and 100 years ago is the ability to get real time updates on the quickest or shortest route to take.
Not to mention having to navigate through perilous waterways, thick jungles, and dangerous caverns, just to trade with other merchants… or mercenaries.
After some time, the safest and most efficient routes were established, and became well known throughout the ancient world.
One of the most famous routes was called the “Silk Road”, which were a series of routes connecting East Asia and Southeast Asia with South Asia, Persia, the Arabian Peninsula, East Africa and Southern Europe.
Needless to say, if you lived in any of these areas, and wanted to succeed in business, there was no way around it, you’d have to get on down the road!
But what does all this have to do with being a marketer or having a profitable sales funnel?
If you want to have a PROFITABLE online business, you need to follow some kind of roadmap to reach your goals.
That doesn’t mean that every now and then you can’t come up with creative new ways to things, but for all intents and purposes, no matter what niche you’re in, a similar process can be followed to get you where you want to be.
Think about it like a pirate!
Even a one-eyed sailor with a crew of outlaws and bandits knew that if they just stuck to the map, and made slight adjustments along the way, before long, they’d be digging up a treasure chest full of gold on the edge of white sand beach.
As long as “X” marks the spot, and you’re brave enough to stay the course, everything you want will (eventually) be given to you, with a few bonuses along the way.
Success doesn’t just leave clues, it leaves GIANT landmarks and billboards.
That statement may be a bit overboard to some, but all I’m really trying to say is that it’s easy to find examples of success if you just look for them.
When’s the last time you went grocery shopping, or bought something from Amazon?
What about the last time you put gas in your car and bought some snacks at the convenience store?
Every last one of these is an example of business success.
Regardless of sales or the perception people may or may not have of the company, the fact that a brand is well known enough to collect your money without needed to spend money on ads (although they do) is a testament to their success.
In fact, any time you spend money with ANY organization is like a vote that goes toward building their company.
This works exactly the same for internet marketers or ecom stores, but it can be a bit more tricky to identify who’s really “winning”.
An easy way to tell is by the amount of ads you see running on facebook, instagram, or any other social media platform.
But just because there’s a slew of ads running down your timeline, doesn’t necessarily mean they’re running a million-dollar enterprise, but it should show you that making money for yourself online is not only possible, it’s highly probable when done right.
Once you come to terms with the fact that selling online is something that you can do to build a serious income for yourself, you’ve got to…
Expect to win… but be prepared for losses.
It’s no secret that regular people just like you are making 6, 7, and yes… even 8-figures online from the comfort of their own homes, and some from the comfort of a resort by a beach somewhere around the world.
Of course this is the ultimate goal for any digital marketer, and again, it’s highly probable if you do things the right way.
However, no one who makes it to such a high level has gotten there without experiencing a few bumps in the road.
To be honest, many of them will go through major losses before getting the knowledge and wisdom it takes to reach the top of their niches.
Now that you know this, you’ve got to be mentally prepared to deal with the benefits of making money, as well as the potential problems that come with it, AND the possibility of failure.
Most people like to sit back and imagine how great life will be when they “make it big”, but little attention is paid to what should be done to get there, and how to maintain once you reach certain levels.
And almost no one focuses on what to do when a campaign completely bombs.
Which is why it’s so important for you to…
Finalize your plan, and execute it.
Like the old saying goes, “fail to prepare, prepare to fail”, meaning if you don’t have a proper plan in place, it’s inevitable that at some point your efforts will fall short.
Once this happens, it can have a domino effect with untold consequences.
For instance, if you were to dump all the time, energy, and resources you had into your new venture online, but had no plan in place if things don’t work out, the first problem to pop up could very well undo everything you’ve worked towards overnight.
Not only that, but you’d literally be at the mercy of the market, meaning if no one buys… you’re screwed.
So it’s always a good thing to take a day or two out of your schedule to do nothing but formulate a plan of action.
Then, once that plan is “finalized”, the next most important step is to move forward and execute!
One of the biggest mistakes you can make is spending months at the drawing board, and failing to kick things off in a timely manner.
The time it takes for you to get comfortable with doing something, is more time for your competitors to launch, test, refine, and re-launch to get better results than they did at first.
All while you site idle trying to figure out what to do next.
Sometimes, it’s best to hit the start button with 80% of a good plan, instead of waiting years to be at 100%, and miss out on time-sensitive, once in a lifetime opportunities in the marketplace.
To bring this post full circle, whatever goals you want to hit, be it personal or professional, must be thoroughly planned out, and BOLDLY executed, regardless of the thoughts and perception of others.
The easiest way to think about this, is by looking at the desired results in exact detail, and figuring out the best way to get there.
In other words, if you were running a race, instead of being surprised or caught off-guard when something unexpected pops-up, chart your path from the finish line so you know exactly what to do before you start.
Then, if a situation comes along that takes you off path, just perform a simple “course correction”, and get back to the original plan.
Did this help you get a better, more logical understanding on how you should be tackling your goals?
