Have you heard me reference the term Freedom-preneur? This is term Brian and I coined to describe what we are all about.
It has been our goal to get away from the Entrepreneur lifestyle and blaze our own trail as Freedom-Preneurs. Let’s take a look at what that means.
Where It Began For Me
The start of my story begins when I decided to leave the corporate world. Brian and I had made a lot of purchases that didn’t make it easy for me to just drop my job and lose my income completely.
That is where the idea was born to pursue a different kind of life than what I was groomed to do. See, I was working for a pharmaceutical company and was climbing my way up the ladder until one day it came to a screeching hault. That is the day I realized I didn’t want to ship my children off to daycare.
When I had that realization, I had to switch my focus from being an Entrepreneur to something different.
What is the Difference Between an Entrepreneur and a Freedom-Preneur?
In a nutshell, Entrepreneurs are people that excel in building a viable business that makes large profits. Their business is what determines everything about their lives.
In a sense, they become slaves to the company. It is actually the very thing that they are trying to avoid by building their own empire. Instead of being a slave to the man, they are a slave to the company.
Do you see where I’m coming from on this? When run a company in the corporate world, you have restrictions on your life. You are told where to live, when to go to work, when to take time off, and so on.
We decided that we weren’t going to let our jobs dictate how we raised our family and lived our lives. Thus, the term Freedom-Preneur was born. We have re-defined the American dream and are now pursuing that.
Be sure to download our free Freedom-Preneur guide that explains more about why we decided to pursue this path.
Re-Defining the American Dream
We decided that instead of putting our energy into this one-size-fits all life, we would re-define what the American Dream looks like for us. We wanted to have real freedom, not be in bondage to our jobs.
Don’t misunderstand me here, what Brian’s and my American Dream looks like is going to be different from what your version of the dream looks like.
What you have to do is to determine what your ideal life looks like. For us, we want to travel the world and raise our family while making a 6 figure income.
Freedom-Preneuing gives you the ability to decide what you want out of life and to pursue it. Maybe your dream will look different than ours. In fact, I’m not always sure our dream will be the same. That is the beauty of the Freedom-Preneur life.
Where oh where could your dreams take you?
So many of us have been taught to think that there is but one outcome for our lives. Some of us do venture away from our hometowns, in fact far more people today than at times in the past. Where we can live out our greatest years is an open door and we can explore what the options are in this section.
Some of us think that we are not affected by our environment and we think that it would be impossible that we as humans defy the laws of science that we wrote as human beings.
What we mean is that everything that is measured is measured in context of the environment that it is in. It is fair then to say that some do better in one environment while another does better with something different. There are people who thrive on the bustling energy of a city on a Monday morning and there are some that like to awaken to the sunrise on a farm in the middle of nowhere.
Some people really do well next to the water and enjoy living next to large lakes or cobalt blue oceans. We all have a place where we do the best for a number of reasons. There is somewhere that each of us is more apt to thrive. This may just be a change of scenery but we have a landscape that just speaks to us.
Here are some of the areas that will tell us of how to identify an environment that would be positive for us:
Type of scenery
Friendliness of the Local People
Layout and feel of your home
Community belonging and activities
Learning and Expanding current knowledge or ability
All of these things are a part of the environment that we are living in. If any or many of these things are not meeting our needs or fulfilling what we believe we want and need, we will feel different things that may not be the most enjoyable or productive.
Since we have found so much freedom in our lifestyle, we work with others to help them see their passions become fulfilled, join the tribe and the movement Now
